Ever since I can remember, I have been obsessed with making beautiful spaces. While growing up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, I spent much of my childhood and teenage years staying up late to rearrange my bedroom furniture and cover my walls in a collage of magazine cut-outs. Even at a young age, having an authentic place to call my own was important to me.

That same passion has followed me into adulthood, especially as I became a homeowner and unlocked even bigger and better ways to express myself. I also became an avid thrifter and secondhand shopper, which started as a way to save money on furnishings but turned into a sustainable mission for me to experiment with new styles and figure out my own taste along the way.

my design approach

I’m a firm believer that every space — whether that’s an actual house, apartment, business, or dorm room — tells a story. When you invite someone else into your space, it’s almost like they’re reading your diary or uncovering a personal secret of yours. The question becomes, what story do you want your space to tell?

why “Welcome Mat”?

Similar to how a physical welcome mat is placed at a front door, Welcome Mat Interiors can be thought of as your entryway to the world of interior styling. By working with me, my hope is that you are able to learn more about yourself and use that knowledge to create a lifetime of meaningful spaces. It’s also a fun little nod to my childhood nickname, Mat.

On a personal level, I live with my husband (Tyler) and dog (Scout) in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. In my free time, you can often find me browsing racks at the thrift store, sipping on an iced latte, or investing in a new cozy hobby. I can’t wait to work with you! ❤️
